What to Look For When Planning a Tent

A successful tent setup starts with the right space. Before booking, here are a few important things to consider.

Look Up

  • Tree branches and limbs
  • Power lines
  • Rooflines and overhangs
  • Seasonal growth changes

Look Down

  • Septic systems
  • Sprinkler lines
  • Landscape lighting
  • Private electrical lines

Space Requirements

Your setup area should be larger than the tent itself. In most cases, plan for about 5 extra feet on each side for proper anchoring and installation access.

Example: A 20x40 tent typically needs about 30x50 feet of clear space.

Ground Conditions

Flat ground is ideal. Slopes, grade changes, driveways, and hard surfaces may still work, but they often require additional planning and different anchoring methods.

Permitting & Utility Locating

We handle 811 utility locating and permitting when needed. This applies to public utility lines only.

Customers are responsible for identifying private items such as septic systems, sprinkler systems, added wiring, and other underground features on the property.
